Parents, children and relatives

The reward of serving parents
Hadrat Ka'ab bin Ujra (may Allah be pleased with him) relates, "And we came near the pulpit. When he (Prophet Muhammad, may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) ascended the first step of the pulpit, he said: "Aameen". When he ascended the second step he said: "Aameen". When he ascended the third step, he said: "Aameen." When he descended, we said: "O Prophet of Allah, we have
heard from you today something which we never heard before." He said "(When I ascended the first step) Jibra'il (peace be upon him) appeared before me and said: "Woe to him who found the blessed month of Ramadan and let it pass by without gaining forgiveness." Upon that I said: "Aameen." When I ascended the second step, he said: "Woe to him before whom your name is mentioned and he does not invoke Allah's blessings on you." I replied: "Aameen." When I ascended the third step, he said; "Woe to him in whose presence his parents or one of them attain old age, and through failure to serve them is not allowed to enter Paradise." I said "Aameen." (Hakam, Tabarani)

Paradise lies beneath the feet of mothers
Mu'awiya bin Jahima said that his father approached Prophet Muhammad (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) and said, "I intend going on Jihad. I seek your advice." The Prophet (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) inquired, "Is your mother alive?" He answered, "Yes". The Prophet (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) said, "Go and serve her for Paradise lies beneath the feet of mothers." (Ahmad, an-Nasai, Bayhaqi)

Kind treatment of mother and father
Hadrat Abu Hurayra (may Allah be pleased with him) relates that a man came to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) and asked: "O Messenger of Allah, which person of all the people is best entitled to kind treatment and good companionship from me?" He answered, "Your mother". The man asked: "And then?" He said, "Your mother". "And after her?" He said: "Your mother". And after her?" The Holy Prophet (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) said: "Your father". (Bukhari and Muslim)

Kind treatment of parents even if unbelievers
Hadrat Asma' daughter of Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: My mother who was an idolatress came to me at the time of the treaty with the Quraysh, and I said, "Messenger of Allah, my mother who is ill-disposed to Islam has come to me. Shall I show her affection?" He replied, "Yes, do so." (Bukhari and Muslim)

Do not displease fathers
Hadrat 'Abdullah bin'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said that Prophet Muhammad (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) said, "A father's satisfaction is Allah's satisfaction; a father's displeasure is Allah's displeasure." (Tirmidhi)

Kind treatment of children
Narrated Umm Qays (may Allah be pleased with her) that she took to Allah's Messenger (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) one of her sons whose palate and tonsils she had pressed to treat a throat trouble. The Prophet (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) said, "Be afraid of Allah! Why do you pain your children by having their tonsils pressed like that? Use the 'Ud Al-Hindi (a certain Indian incense) for it cures seven diseases, one of which is pleurisy." (Bukhari)

Greet the children Sayyar reported: I was walking with Thabit al-Bunani when he happened to pass by children and he greeted them. And Thabit reported that he walked with Hadrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) and he happened to pass by children and he greeted them, and Hadrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that he walked with Allah's Messenger (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) and he happened to pass by children and he greeted them. (Muslim)

Kind treatment of relatives
Narrated Hadrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): I heard Allah's Prophetic Messenger (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) saying, "Whoever desires an expansion in his sustenance and age, should keep good relations with his kith and kin." (Bukhari)

The example of Prophet Muhammad (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) and Sayyidatina Fatima (may Allah be pleased with her) Mother of faithful believers, Sayyidatina 'Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "I never saw anyone more like Allah's Messenger in gravity, calm deportment, pleasant disposition (a version adding "talk" and "speech") than Fatima (his daughter). When she came to visit him, he got up to welcome her, took her by the hand, kissed her, and made her sit where he was sitting; and when he went to visit her, she got up to welcome him, took him by the hand, kissed him, and made him sit where she was sitting." (Abu Dawud)
