"It is He who has created death and life to put you to the
test and see which of you is most virtuous in your deeds. He is Majestic
and All-forgiving." (67:2)
Qualities of True Believers
1. Easy-going:
True believers never feel anxious and they
are ready to spend in Allah's cause, no matter whatever the situation
they are in. Even if they are having a hard time, they don't bother
about it. They simply give out of what they have because they know that
the pleasure comes not from this materialistic world
, but rather the eternal life for which they are intended to. They control their anger even at times when things get toughen. They are relaxed and frank enough to pardon people without holding a grudge. Allah describe such believers as the righteous ones.
, but rather the eternal life for which they are intended to. They control their anger even at times when things get toughen. They are relaxed and frank enough to pardon people without holding a grudge. Allah describe such believers as the righteous ones.
"who spend their property for the cause of God in
prosperity as well as in adversity and who also harness their anger and
forgive the people. God loves the righteous ones." (3:134)
2. God-fearing:
When 'Allah' is mentioned, believers start
to shake with awe. They think that what they have done and doing are
still not enough to thank for the blessings Allah has endowed them with.
They feel ashamed of themselves for the minutes and hours that they
have spent forgetting the Lord. Their faith increases when they read the
verses of Quran and it strengthens their fragile hearts which has been
weakened because of the fear and love they have for God. This makes them
to put their trust solely in Allah.
"The believers are only those who, when Allah is
mentioned, feel a fear in their hearts and when His Verses (this Quran)
are recited unto them, they (i.e. the Verses) increase their Faith; and
they put their trust in their Lord (Alone);" (8:2)
3. Dutiful:
True believers are ready to spend and
sacrifice for the sake of Allah. They are ready to strive to protect the
Deen without any fear. They would willingly present all their wealth
and lives to safeguard the Deen. Nothing comes first for them except
Allah. They would never turn back or make excuses to slip from their
mission.
"Those who believe in Allah and the Last Day would not
ask permission of you to be excused from striving with their wealth and
their lives. And Allah is Knowing of those who fear Him." (9:44)
4. Helpful and Supportive:
If someone encourages you towards good,
and forbid you from doing evil; then be happy for you are in company
with a true believer. If you are doing something good, he/she will be
supportive for you in all the possible ways and if you are to act
wrongly, they will be quick in pointing out and will clear your path so
that you will be led towards good.
"And the believers, men and women, are protecting friends one of another; they enjoin the right and forbid the wrong," (9:71)
5. Positive-minded:
True believers will always have positive
views. Even if someone goes to argue, they will simply say something
good that won't hurt both the parties. In this way, they will be humble
towards the truth and will be ready to face everything positively.
"To the righteous (when) it is said, 'What is it that your Lord has revealed?' they say, 'All that is good.'" (16:30)
"And the slaves of the Most Beneficent (Allah) are
those who walk on the earth in humility and sedateness, and when the
foolish address them (with bad words) they reply back with mild words of
gentleness." (25:63)
6. Modest and Submissive:
No matter whatever, When they hear the
calling for prayers, They would at once leave everything off and would
go to Salah which obviously show their submissiveness. Nothing would be
much happier for them than spending their time in prayers. They won't be
easily distracted and would forget about themselves because of the
obedience. It isn't so easy, but they will strive their best to be. They
would avoid wasting their time in useless talks for they know that this
life isn't permanent, but a place to harvest for the hereafter. They
would be very careful in paying their zakats on due time and will strive
to guard their chastity in every possible ways. Modesty will be an
important ingredient in their life and it will be mixed in every of
their actions.
"Successful indeed are the believers Who are humble in
their prayers, And who shun vain conversation, And who are payers of the
poor-due; And who guard their modesty -" (23:1-5)
7. Never doubt:
One of a main reason which leads men
astray is the feeling of doubt. Doubt is the root to grow evil thoughts
in a human's heart and concerning believers, they won't have a speck of
doubt about Allah and His Messenger. They will be pleased to do what
Allah has commanded and they will be happy to follow the ways of His
Messenger.
"The believers are those who believe in God and His
Messenger, who do not change their belief into doubt and who strive hard
for the cause of God with their property and persons. They are the
truthful ones" (49:15)
There are many qualities of believers which are mentioned
in Quran, but accomplishing these few qualities will help you to attain
other qualities as well. So starting with simple, we can move onto the
better, Insha'Allah.
What advices does Allah give for True believers?
In this 21st century, it's not so easy to
hold our Iman firmly. We may be so strong and grab hold of our Iman when
we are in masjids and when return home, we may loose it. So what can we
do to make our Iman stand firm? Allah has given some advices for true
believers through Quran which if we bring into practice, we can atleast
maintain our Iman to a certain standard. So let's see what advices does
Allah give for True believers.
1. Be Precautious:
Allah commands believers to take
precautions in every possible ways. Dangers and Problems are something
that are entangled in our lives, but taking proper steps will help us to
be away from them. So it's important to think before we act which will
minimise all the possible negaitivity that are likely to surround us.
"O you who believe! Take your precautions," (4:71)
2. Be Choosy:
We can see among our society that some of
us are good at making freinds with non-muslims while they criticise and
underestimate our own muslim brothers and sisters. Some I have heard
saying that it's better to befriend a non-muslim than a muslim, but
Allah doesn't want us to be such people. It isn't a sin to befriend a
non-muslim, but we can't choose over a muslim friend. It means we have
to be very careful when making a choice.
"O you who believe! Choose not disbelievers for (your) friends in place of believers." (4:144)
3. Be Just:
No matter whatever, even if it is against
someone who are so close to us, we shouldn't forget to maintain justice.
If justice prevails on a person whom we hate the most, still we have no
right to act against them. Being just at everytime is a sign of getting
closer to piety.
"O you who believe! Stand out firmly for Allah and be
just witnesses and let not the enmity and hatred of others make you
avoid justice. Be just: that is nearer to piety, and fear Allah. Verily,
Allah is WellAcquainted with what you do." (5:8)
4. Be Religious:
If we can hold firm to what Allah has made
incumbent upon us like: establishing prayers on time, giving alms,
fasting, performing hajj, earning halal means and striving in all the
ways that would please Him, Insha'Allah, we can be pious believers as it
will diminish all evil thoughts and will motivate us towards good.
"O you who believe! Do your duty to Allah and fear Him.
Seek the means of approach to Him, and strive hard in His Cause as much
as you can. So that you may be successful." (5:35)
5. Don't be interrogative:
Asking too much questions will lead us to
insanity and Islam isn't bound on questions. Just think of a man who is
asking so many questions and how will it be? Won't it irritate you? And
at last, you will notice that he is not wise, but empty within hearts
and eventually it will put him in trouble. Suspicion will overpower him
that he will find nothing satisfactory.
"O you who believe! do not put questions about things which if declared to you may trouble you, " (5:101)
6. Be Steadfast:
Nowadays we can see Muslims suffer all
around the world in some ways, but if we stand firm by being patient
without protesting, and if we maintain our hearts and tongues with the
remembrance of Allah, then definitely there will be nothing much to do
and the victory shall reach us before we become aware of it.
"O you who believe! when you meet a party, then be
firm, and remember Allah much, that you may be successful. And obey
Allah and His Messenger and do not quarrel for then you will be weak in
hearts and your power will depart, and be patient; surely Allah is with
the patient." (8:45,46)
7. Be among a good company:
Surrounding plays a vital role in our
lives. If we are among bad, no wonder that we too may be bad. Even if we
aren't, we will still possess some of their qualities unknowingly,
atleast in our speech. But if we are among good, then for sure, we will
be inspired and motivated to do good. So it's important to choose a good
surrounding which will help us in all the ways to be good and pious.
"O you who believe! Be afraid of Allah, and be with those who are true (in words and deeds)." (9:119)
8. Preach while Practicing:
True believers are not those who just give
a speech and remain silent, but rather are those who act and show what
it is all about. Allah advise believers not to say of what they do not,
and if each of us begin to say of what we do, then there will be a great
change, first in our hearts and next in others'.
"O you who believe! Why do you say that which you do
not do? Most hateful it is with Allah that you say that which you do not
do." (61:2,3)
9. Be Allah's Helpers:
Does Allah need any help from us?
Certainly not, but He wanted to see how we strive in His Cause, how we
safeguard our Deen, how we do our best to serve His Creation. All in
all, Allah define such people as His Helpers as they do it for nothing,
but to please Him.
"O you who believe! be helpers (in the cause) of Allah," (61:14)
10. Be repentant:
To be a believer, our souls should be
often purified, but how? Repentance is the key to open the door of
purification. If we are honest in repenting, then our minds will be
clear from errors. It won't be so easy for Shaitan to overpower us.
"O you who believe! Turn to Allah with sincere repentance!" (66:8)
Conclusion
Now Just think a minute and see how easy
Islam is. Becoming a true believer isn't so hard and you no need to
strive for all 24 hours to attain it. Just by following these simple
advices which Allah has given in Quran is more than enough to attain
success in this world and in the hereafter. So let's do our best and
please Allah in all that we could, Insha'Allah.
"A strong believer is better and is more lovable to Allah than a weak believer." (Muslim)
