AL-HADITH : Giving help and Assistance

1. Narrated from 'Ata' from Jabir, that the Messenger of Allah ( pbuh )said:
"Whoever has land, let him cultivate it. If he is unable to
cultivate it, let him give it to his Muslim brother and not share-crop it with him."
(Annasaa'i)

2. Narrated Abu Musa: The Prophet ( pbuh ) said, "A believer to another believer is like a building whose different parts enforce each other." The Prophet ( pbuh ) then clasped his hands with the fingers interlaced (while saying that).

(Bukhari)

3. Nu'man b. Bashir reported Allah's Messenger ( pbuh ) as saying:"Muslims are like one body of a person; if the eye is sore, the whole body aches, and if the head aches, the whole body aches."

(Muslim)

4. Narrated from Ibn 'Umar that the Messenger of Allah ( pbuh ) said: “Whoever takes the wrongdoer's side in a dispute or supports wrongdoing, he will remain subject to the wrath of Allah until he gives it up.” Graded as Hassan

(Ibn Majah)

5. Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger ( pbuh ) said, "There is a (compulsory) Sadaqa (charity) to be given for every joint of the human body (as a sign of gratitude to Allah) everyday the sun rises. To judge justly between two persons is regarded as Sadaqa, and to help a man concerning his riding animal by helping him to ride it or by lifting his luggage on to it, is also regarded as Sadaqa, and (saying) a good word is also Sadaqa, and every step taken on one's way to offer the compulsory prayer (in the mosque) is also Sadaqa and to remove a harmful thing from the way is also Sadaqa."

(Bukhari)

6. Narrated Abu Burda: from his father from his grandfather that the Prophet ( pbuh ) said, "Every Muslim has to give in charity." The people asked, "O Allah's Prophet! If someone has nothing to give, what will he do?" He said, "He should work with his hands and benefit himself and also give in charity (from what he earns)." The people further asked, "If he cannot find even that?" He replied, "He should help the needy who appeal for help." Then the people asked, "If he cannot do that?" He replied, "Then he should perform good deeds and keep away from evil deeds and this will be regarded as charitable deeds."

(Bukhari)

7. Narrated Ibn `Umar: The Prophet ( pbuh ) said, "Oppression will be a darkness on the Day of Resurrection."

(Bukhari)

8. Narrated Muawiya bin Suwaid: I heard Al-Bara' bin `Azib saying, "The Prophet ( pbuh ) orders us to do seven things and prohibited us from doing seven other things." Then Al-Bara' mentioned the following

(1) To pay a visit to the sick (inquiring about his health),
(2) to follow funeral processions,
(3) to say to a sneezer, "May Allah be merciful to you" (if he says, "Praise be to Allah!"),
(4) to return greetings,
(5) to help the oppressed,
(6) to accept invitations,
(7) to help others to fulfill their oaths.
(Bukhari)

9. Narrated Anas: Allah's Messenger ( pbuh ) said, "Help your brother, whether he is an oppressor or he is an oppressed one. People asked, "O Allah's Messenger ( pbuh )! It is all right to help him if he is oppressed, but how should we help him if he is an oppressor?" The Prophet ( pbuh ) said, "By preventing him from oppressing others."

(Bukhari)

10. Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar: Allah's Messenger ( pbuh ) said, "A Muslim is a brother of another Muslim, so he should not oppress him, nor should he hand him over to an oppressor. Whoever fulfilled the needs of his brother, Allah will fulfill his needs; whoever brought his (Muslim) brother out of a discomfort, Allah will bring him out of the discomforts of the Day of Resurrection, and whoever screened a Muslim, Allah will screen him on the Day of Resurrection."

(Bukhari)
